Maltese Digital Nomad Visa Application Process

Collect All the Required Documents

The first step concerns collecting all of the documents you need to apply for the digital nomad visa. Luckily, you can check out the extensive list of required documents on the official site of the Residency Malta Agency.

Submitting Your Application

After gathering the documents you need, you can submit your application. Once you fill out the application form, you need to send it to the Maltese authorities via email, together with the documents. Then, they will check your application so they can be sure you have submitted everything they require.

Note

Once you finish with this, you will receive a receipt with instructions for paying a $319 non-refundable fee.

Keep in mind that you must make the payment through your account. As soon as your payment is registered, your application is ready to be reviewed.

Important

The application process is entirely online. You may only need to visit some institutions in your home country if some of your documents are not valid.

Application Review

The next step of the process is about reviewing your application. After you submit it, the Residency of Malta will run a background check. If some of your documents are not valid or there is any kind of an issue, you may be denied a nomad residence permit.

The reviewing process can take about 30 working days.

Pick Up Your Nomad Residence Permit

Once your application is accepted, you will receive a letter of approval. After that, you are required to submit three more documents, such as proof of accommodation, travel insurance, and health insurance.

Important

You must submit these documents within 30 working days, starting from the date when you’ve received the letter.

As soon as everything is done and finalized, you will receive an additional approval letter. More precisely, the digital nomad visa will be issued within three weeks. Then, you’ll get an email that states that you need to pick up the nomad residence permit in person from Residency Malta’s offices.
