Salesforce is a well-established name in the CRM software platform community. It’s one of the most used tools among businesses as it comes with features and services tailored for companies in many different industries. So, is it the right CRM for you?

In order for you to find that out, you need to carefully review what this CRM offers and gauge if it has what you need. And I’m here to assist you with that!

Its headquarters are in San Francisco, California, and it is one of the largest companies in the world by market cap, which just shows how many people use it and stick with it throughout the years.

Some of the most prominent features and services that you’ll get by using Salesforce and that I’ll tell you more about in this review include customer relationship management (CRM) software, sales, customer service, marketing automation, eCommerce, and analytics apps, as well as application development and over 1,000 integrations.

It’s no secret that Salesforce is a feature-packed CRM. So, going through each and every feature and service it has will take more than just one article. However, I’ll make sure to capture all of its most prominent and useful features, i.e., the ones that will show you if Salesforce is the CRM you need to make your business better than it is today. Let’s do it!

Businesses can benefit greatly from Salesforce’s set of comprehensive business products, which range from products that help you streamline your HR department to products that enable more efficient communication and collaboration within the company.

Of course, you don’t need to use all the business products that this CRM offers from the get-go, but they’re excellent ammo to have once your business starts growing and needs more. Some of the capabilities that you’ll equip your business with via Salesforce include the following:

Small Business Productivity with Slack: Salesforce works great with Slack and allows you to connect it to your network and use it as your primary communication channel.
Productivity Tools: Salesforce has powerful productivity tools that make managing and building workflows a piece of cake. These tools also allow sales reps to keep track of their KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and their progress towards quotas. Moreover, you can add meetings directly from your calendar, which is super convenient.

Business products are not the only category of features that Salesforce offers. They’re great for starting out, and as you grow, you can also use the Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Commerce Cloud, Safety Cloud, Heroku, and Quip products.

Customization

Now, this is where Salesforce really stands out from the rest of the CRM software platforms available. When I tried it, I was blown away by the sheer amount of options there are for customizing sales pipelines in particular. So, if you need a platform that allows you to truly make it your own, you definitely won’t go wrong with Salesforce.

Let’s look at some of the many customization options that Salesforce offers:

Editing CSS: Via your CSS settings, you can change how your pages in Salesforce look and function. You can change the spacing, font, and colors, as well as modify customer records to show what you want them to show, which will, without a doubt, improve your workflow immensely.
Object Control: Salesforce’s object control allows you to customize the entire system. Not to mention, doing so is very easy, which took me by surprise. You can add objects, set permissions on records and fields, add buttons, triggers, links, and more.

Create Custom Apps: Salesforce has a developer console that allows you to develop apps and insert them into your CRM. In the developer console, you can create, test, and debug the code for your apps, as well as use Apex triggers to make your development cycle shorter.

You can find over 1,000 third-party apps and tools in Salesforce’s AppExchange store. And trust me when I say that there’s an app for everything in there, including apps for the following categories:

All you have to do to get the apps that you need is open the AppExchange and either search for the app via the search bar or browse through the store.

Flow Solutions: offers pre-built processes and flow building blocks;
Lightning Data: provides pre-integrated data solutions that you can connect to your system;
Components: allows you to build apps and customize pages with no coding.

Ease of Use

I’ll be honest: Salesforce isn’t the most beginner-friendly CRM I have encountered. But that didn’t surprise me as there are too many features and functionalities that you can implement with this CRM. However, if you want something more simple, which is usually what most small businesses need, you can get the job done without much help.

You’ll get a dashboard that’s easy to navigate, which is a huge plus, and use Salesforce at a more limited level via its smart default setup. This is great for first-timers as it’s already set up, allowing you to start quickly and then modify and add elements whenever you need them.

Customer Support

A great feature of Salesforce’s customer support service is that it offers 24/7 support via live chat and phone. Also, it comes with support in Spanish and Portuguese, which is great. There’s a ticketing system and a contact request option that responds to your message within 48 hours.

However, when I communicated with some of the agents, I felt that their responses could be a bit more detailed.

Salesforce also provides a wide range of self-guided resources, and you can always access the Trailblazer community to chat with other Salesforce users.

Salesforce’s small business solutions come in four pricing tiers – Starter, Professional, Enterprise, and Unlimited. The Starter tier costs $25 per user per month and includes contact management, lead management, opportunities management, customizable workflows, third-party integrations, and customer support.

You can try out Salesforce’s plans for free for 30 days, which is more than enough time to determine if you like it. In my opinion, Salesforce offers good value for money, as it gives you access to everything you need, even on its cheapest plan.

Salesforce has a stellar reputation among businesses. Thousands of companies use it in their daily operations and specifically praise the number of features and functionalities it offers, as well as the number of apps it is compatible with.

And when I say it’s best for businesses, I mean businesses of all sizes and industries.

Salesforce is truly a force to be reckoned with, and it has proved to me that it’s not overestimated in the least. One of the features that impressed me the most was its customizability, and in my opinion, no other CRM can beat it in that regard.
