Nunzio Yari Cecere: Eco-Manufacturing for Real Estate

Let me introduce you to Nunzio Yari Cecere, an ambitious individual and an entrepreneur with a vision. Nunzio is the CEO and owner of Cecere Management, an Italian holding company working in eco-sustainable real estate development. His determination and ambition have helped him land a spot on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Europe 2019: Manufacturing & Industry list.

Amazingly, Nunzio had a clear vision of what he had wanted to do ever since he was a child. Not a few can say the same, right? He dreamed of building homes for families and improving the urban centers even before he was 14 years old. So he graduated with a degree in Business and Management from Luiss Guido Carli University in Rome and continued his studies at SDA Bocconi in Milan.

He is proof that you can achieve almost anything if you have the right vision and keep moving forward. No dream is too big! Join me in learning about the work of Cecere Management, how Nunzio manages his family business, and how he structures his day first-hand!

Hi Nunzio, and welcome to this interview! Before we start, I would like to say a massive ‘Thank you’ for participating in this journey! Now, can you tell us who is Nunzio Yari Cecere? How and why did you choose your current career path?

Nunzio Yari Cecere

Thank you for giving me this opportunity.

I am a 25 years-old entrepreneur with a lot of ambition and determination, CEO and owner of Cecere Management, an Italian holding company working in eco-sustainable real estate development.

I lived and studied in Rome for 5 years, where I graduated in Business and Management and then continued my studies in Milan.

As a child, I was attracted by backhoes and construction sites that were being developed in my city.

I tried to observe all the construction phases and I often draw plants or buildings, thinking of making them.

Before the age of 14, I already had an enormous desire to enter the world of work and dreamed of becoming an entrepreneur who built and sold innovative homes for families, with an attractive design that can improve urban centers.

During my free time, I preferred to follow my father who worked in the real estate sector, trying to observe and learn as much as possible all the secrets of this business.

Between 2012 and 2013, in the middle of the economic crisis, he set up our holding company, Cecere Management and in the following months, between my university career in Rome and the obsessive search for real estate operations to do, I was involved in the purchase of land in Aversa. From there began my career path.

I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on being among Forbes 30 under 30 in the category of Manufacturing & Industry! Was this something you expected? How was this experience for you?

Nunzio Yari Cecere

In the past years, our group and I have worked hard to develop Cecere Management but I never expected to be selected by one of the first economics and finance magazines in the world, among the most influential Under 30s in Europe. When I heard that I had been selected, I was moved.

This experience was a point of arrival for me because of the hard work done to date, but also a starting point for me and my company’s dreams.

Do you mind explaining what Cecere Management is and what is your position in the company? What is the mission of your business? Can you describe it in three words?

Nunzio Yari Cecere

Cecere Management is working mainly in sustainable real estate development. We take care of the entire supply chain of the real estate sector, from the purchase of land and construction to marketing and communication.

I am the group administrator and I mainly deal with strategic investment planning and activity coordination. The mission of my company is the development of innovative real estate complexes, designed for the well-being of people in the name of eco-sustainability.

If I had to describe our group in three words I would do write: innovation, precision, and eco-sustainability.

Based on your experience, how can people recognize a good business idea? How did you know Cecere Management has the potential to grow into what it is today? How did you know this was the right business idea for you?

Nunzio Yari Cecere

I believe that the fundamental requisite to possess for those who want to start a business is passion. We must love what we do.

Then we need to analyze the context because it may happen that our idea is not ready for our times. Finally, we must learn to listen to the “market” to understand if our product/service can be accepted. My career started like this.

As a person involved in business management, I am interested in how hard it is for you to manage your time effectively. Which time management techniques are you adopting yourself?

Nunzio Yari Cecere

I realize that time is the most limited resource we have. For a family company like ours, you need to optimize your time as you need to coordinate all the company phases, from the construction site to sale. Basically, I try to spend the morning on production and then on the construction site while I spend the afternoon in the office between budgets and meetings.

What is your definition of work-life balance? Why is it so important? Please explain.

Nunzio Yari Cecere

For who live their work as a “passion” it is really difficult to find a work-life balance.

Despite everything you have to try to reach this balance, otherwise, we accumulate stress.

However, I believe as long as I am young I can control it.

The Logician

What time do you wake up? How do you spend the first few hours of every day? Do you believe habits are crucial for achieving success? Why?

Nunzio Yari Cecere

I was always a very early riser, between 6/7 I wake up and around 8 I go to the construction site to see the progress of the work. the second part of the morning instead I tend to go to the office.

Habits are important in the short term but then they must be reformulated according to the evolution of work and life. I believe we must be dynamic in adapting our time to change if they want to progress.

Apart from work, what do you enjoy doing? What matters in life? What is your definition of happiness?

Nunzio Yari Cecere

I have a passion for boats, feeling like my “home” in the water where I can relax.

I love traveling, checking big cities and landscapes and taking long walks in suggestive locations. I am also a lover of solitude and when I am stressed I travel for hours by car without a destination. It helps me to think and clarify my ideas.

Happiness is when u doing what you like, no listening opinion of people around. It is important to go straight on your own way and always be yourself, just so I believe that happiness can be achieved.

Ten years from now, where do you see yourself and your company? Are there any goals you want to accomplish by then?

We are working on the internationalization of our group. I hope that within ten years, Cecere Management can compete in the great capitals of Europe and America’s real estate, developing environmentally sustainable real estate complexes that can give well-being to families and cities.

Finally, what advice would you give anyone struggling to find their calling in life?

Nunzio Yari Cecere

I often think about Steve Jobs’s speech to Stanford students, who said that it is not possible to connect the dots looking forward, but you have to believe in something.

I believe that it is not easy to find one’s vocation and we almost never manage to get a clear idea of the career path we would like to do, but I think our task is always to aim high, but to cross the road step by step without anxiety.

We must explore, try and fail with perseverance.
