Lauren Steinberg: Empowering Women's Health and Wellness

Let me introduce you to an incredible female entrepreneur, Lauren Steinberg. Lauren is the founder of the feminine wellness company, Queen V. Due to her passion and determination to help women worldwide, Forbes chose to add her to their 30 Under 30 US & Canada 2019: Retail & eCommerce list.

Lauren began her higher education at Chapman University, studying Mass Communication and Media Studies. She then went on to get a B.A. in Print Journalism at the University of Southern California. Prior to starting Queen V, Lauren worked at television networks, including Nickelodeon and Discovery Studios as a development intern.

Lauren’s story behind her company is truly empowering. I invite you to join me in learning about how it all started, effective management, her goals, and her motivations. In the end, Lauren also shared the best advice she had gotten in life. Without further ado, let’s hear from her!

Before we start, I would like to say a huge ‘Thank You’ for taking the time to be part of this mission! Do you mind introducing yourself? Who is Lauren Steinberg?

My name is Lauren Steinberg and I am the founder of Queen V. Queen V is a female-run and female-focused feminine wellness company.

We launched nationwide at Walmart in April of 2018 and we are now available at Rite Aid, Target, Free People and Urban Outfitters as well!

Queen V takes a simple and fun three-step approach to a topic that many women (including myself at one point) find confusing and embarrassing.

All of our products are pH-balanced and use better-for-you ingredients whenever possible.

How did you choose your current career path?

Lauren Steinberg

I have been around vaginas my entire life, not only because I am female but because my dad is a gynecologist. As I grew older, I began to develop infections “down there,” what I refer to as my Queen V. It was painful and embarrassing.

I didn’t know why I was getting these infections so I went to my gynecologist and did a bunch of research.

I learned about vaginal pH and began researching ingredients commonly found in most feminine wellness products on the market and why they could be doing more harm than good.

I also spoke to my friends about the problems I was having and realized that I wasn’t alone.

Three in every four women will get a yeast infection at least once in their life and 25 percent of infections that women get are urinary tract infections (UTI’s).

This was astounding to me. I began looking for products that had better-for-me ingredients, products that were easy to use, affordable and effective and I couldn’t find anything that fit my needs. I became frustrated and decided to take matters into my own hands. This is when Queen V was born!

I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on being on the Forbes 30 under 30' list! How was that experience for you? What contributed to your success the most?

Thank you so much! I was so excited when I found out I made the list! It is such an honor and I am so grateful to the team at Forbes for recognizing me and Queen V as well.

Hard work and creativity contribute to my success the most as well as the people I surround myself with. I have an amazing team and a very supportive family and boyfriend!

Can you tell us more about Queen V? How was your business born? Why is it important?

Lauren Steinberg

Our products are made for women by women and take a really unique approach to vaginal health. We have created an easy to follow a three-step process that helps women maintain, heal and enjoy their v.

Maintaining your v is all about keeping your vagina clean and healthy by using products that are pH-balanced. Healing your v addresses infections and problems that can arise like yeast infections and UTI’s.

Enjoying your v aims to help women love and embrace their vaginas. Each of our products fit into one of these color-coded categories. Maintain products are blue, healing products are green and enjoy products are pink.

In addition to creating better-for-you products, Queen V aims to empower women to take control of what they are putting into and on their bodies. It is so important to take the time to read what ingredients are in a product and to understand the why behind them.

Through our social media channels, we make it a priority to make learning about your body as fun and engaging as possible. Queen V has cultivated a community of empowered women and we aim to destigmatize the word vagina.

Because all of our products are available at Walmart, Rite Aid, and Target and are price comparable with every other product on the shelf, every woman has access to these products.

Our products have loud and bright packaging because they are not meant to hide on a shelf, but rather to stand out! Women should not be embarrassed to buy vaginal products. Queen V really is a high-end brand at an affordable price!

How hard was it for you to come up with a business idea? Did it come naturally, or did you look for it? How did you know this was the right business idea for you?

Lauren Steinberg

My boyfriend, Oliver Bogner, really encouraged me to pursue Queen V as a business. We knew there was an opportunity to make this a career when we looked at the product offerings in the feminine wellness category.

This category was ripe for disruption and really needed products made for women by women. I didn’t expect it all to happen so quickly but deep down, I knew Queen V would work.

I knew that if I needed these products other women did as well and I knew that they were amazing products.

How well do you manage your time? What are the best tricks for effective time management? Please explain.

Lauren Steinberg

I am a Virgo so time management comes supernaturally to me. When you are running a business and you are being pulled in multiple directions it is important to work smart.

I am great at prioritizing what needs to get done and when and I have learned over time how to effectively manage my team without micromanaging them to make sure everyone stays motivated and knows what they are doing.

The calendar app on my phone is my life so I highly recommend you use that as well as the notes section on my phone. I love to-do lists.

What does a successful business look like to you? What is your definition of success generally? Does it always have something to do with work? Why?

Lauren Steinberg

Everyone has their own definition of success and mine is doing what makes me happy.

I love getting to go run my business every day but I also love taking time to be with my loved ones and taking time to practice self-care.

I don’t think anyone’s definition of success should come solely from work, but again, everyone has their own definition of success.

Besides work, what do you enjoy doing? What would you be doing if it was not for your company? Who is your no.1 supporter in life?

Lauren Steinberg

When I am not working, which is very rare as Queen V is basically my whole life right now, I love watching reality tv, hanging out with my friends and family and I love shopping (which really means looking for new innovation at fun stores).

If I wasn’t running Queen V, I think I would be working at a television network which is the field I was in before I started Queen V.

I have a 3-way tie for my number 1 supporter. My boyfriend Oliver and my best friend Alexis are always there for me and are willing to put up with me and of course my parents!

Let’s say it is the year 2030. Where are you and your business? Do you have any future plans?

Lauren Steinberg

Queen V is just getting started! I am working closely with Walmart to continue innovating and creating amazing and effective products for women.

I am opening new and exciting accounts and as always, I am focused on destigmatizing the word vagina.

My goal this year is to really try not to focus on what will be going on in my life 10 years from now.

I am working on being present in the moment and enjoying every step of building a business.

It is really easy to get caught up in what you want to achieve next, but it is really important for me to celebrate every single win I have along the way.

Finally, yet importantly, what is the best advice you have ever received in life and do you not mind sharing it with the audience? Please explain.

You don’t get what you don’t ask for. It is okay to ask for help. You don’t have to do everything on your own.
